Invisalign in Omro
Many adults are unhappy with their crooked and misaligned teeth but are reluctant to wear traditional metal braces. However, those are no longer the only options for adults who need braces. Invented by Stanford University students decades ago, the Invisalign system of clear aligner trays has provided beautiful smiles for adults all over the world. Invisalign's clear aligner trays gently guide teeth into proper alignment, but the trays are virtually invisible, so no one will know that you're wearing them unless you divulge that information.
What's Meant by the Invisalign System?
Initially, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and gums, and your trays will be fabricated from those impressions. During the Invisalign process, you'll receive new trays every two weeks or thereabouts, depending on your individual needs. The aligner trays can correct mild to moderate orthodontic issues by applying gentle pressure to the teeth. You won't need unsightly and uncomfortable metal wires or brackets. Usually, the entire procedure takes between 12 and 24 months, but you'll probably need to wear a retainer at night for a while after your treatment is complete. The retainer prevents the teeth from reverting to their prior position. Call our Omro office for more information on getting Invisalign in our office or to schedule an appointment.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
Often, patients find their Invisalign cost comparable to that of traditional metal braces. If you need more substantial correction, then your cost may increase. Your dental insurance may cover part or all of your Invisalign cost, depending on your plan benefits.
We suggest that you contact your insurance provider before your appointment since they're the best source of information on benefits, exclusions, deductibles, and so forth. Bring that information with you to your appointment so we can provide the most accurate estimate possible. The cost of your Invisalign retainers will be included in your estimate.
If your current insurance doesn't cover Invisalign, ask your provider about specialty plans that will provide Invisalign insurance. Also, we have several financing options available that can enable you to afford treatment while staying within your budget. Call our Omro office for more information on the financing options available.
How Long Does the Invisalign Procedure Take?
Each patient is unique, and the length of their Invisalign treatment will depend on their unique needs. However, the average treatment time for adults who need mild to moderate adjustment is about a year, and treatment time for teens is quite varied. After your treatment is complete, you can expect to wear a nightly retainer for six months to one year.
What Are Invisalign Dentists?
Invisalign dentists are licensed general dentists or orthodontists who have completed the specialized training required by Invisalign to install their system. Only professionals who have completed Invisalign's training are authorized to provide Invisalign to patients. If you have questions or want to make an appointment with one of our Invisalign dentists, call our Omro office, and we'll be happy to help you.
Invisalign vs Braces: Which Is Better?
Although appearance is a significant factor in deciding on Invisalign, the effectiveness of the treatment should be the deciding factor. The aligner trays can be very effective for adults with mild or moderate orthodontic issues.
Those with severe orthodontic issues or severe malocclusion may find another type of braces will work better for them, but the dentist will make that evaluation at the initial appointment. Depending on your unique needs, your dentist will decide which is better for you, Invisalign vs braces.
What Are the Benefits of the Invisalign Procedure?
One of the most attractive benefits of the Invisalign treatment is its invisibility. The aligner trays are invisible, so no one will know you're wearing braces. Another major benefit is dental hygiene. Since you remove the trays when you eat or drink anything other than plain water, you don't worry about food particles lodging under the trays and starting to decay. Some of the benefits include:
- Eating all the foods you enjoy
- A metal-free smile
- Trays can be removed at anytime
- Office visits are only every four to six weeks
- No wires or brackets to chafe your mouth
Call our Omro office for more information about the benefits of Invisalign.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
Not everyone is a good candidate for the Invisalign procedure. Younger children whose mouths are still developing aren't usually good candidates. Those with severe spacing issues, severe crowding, or severe bite problems may benefit more from another type of correction. However, your dentist will advise you of the feasibility of Invisalign for your needs.
Will Invisalign Affect My Lifestyle?
The aligner trays don't significantly impact your lifestyle except as follows:
- Smoking or chewing tobacco will stain the trays, so patients are encouraged to avoid these activities.
- Chewing gum can stick to the trays or cause them to become distorted, so it's discouraged.
- The trays must be removed before eating or drinking anything except clear water. You need to brush thoroughly before reinserting them.
- You must wear the trays for at least 20 to 22 hours daily for them to be effective.
How Do I Take Care of My Aligner Trays?
Invisalign supplies a cleaning system for optimal care of their clear trays. Alternatively, you can brush and then rinse them in cool water. Never drink hot beverages or rinse the trays with hot water as that can warp them. If you lose or damage a tray, contact our Omro office immediately, and we'll get a replacement to you as soon as possible.
